This is a three part series that was made during an information design class taught by Kate Bingaman-Burt. The series includes a timeline and infographic poster that examine the ukulele, discussing the history, relation to US popular culture and tourism, and the anatomy, origins, famous players, and types of ukes, and is completed with a “Ukulele Start-up kit.”
The kit contains a songbook and informational guide to playing the uke, as well as a smaller infographic poster. It is intended to help someone who has never played this fun instrument before to start strumming and playing some of my favorite songs. Handmade illustrations and lettering are made with micron pen and sharpie and treated with watercolor washes. Books are hand bound.
This is a student project from a Communication Design Studio taught by Kate Bingaman-Burt at PSU. Alexandra Kouzoukian handmade all of the lettering and illustrations as well as created the watercolor textures.
